Load Sixteen Tons and What Do You Get?

No one yet has proposed to pay me to be clever, play with Sports Cars, drink beer, or watch TV with my daughter, so I work for a living.

In the main, I make my living writing things of one sort or another. Depending on the time, the place, and circumstances, I'm a Newspaper Reporter/Columnist, magazine editor, Technical Writer, Technical Trainer, Marketing Person, Manager, or Auto Mechanic.

I'm a contractor - my wife Jill and I do business as Falstaff Publications.

My work history is pretty stragihtforward. I graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a BA in American Studies (emphasis on U.S. History to 1865) in 1985 and went to work for The Santa Cruz Operation as a Technical Writer.

I left SCO in 1990 and went to Silicon Graphics, Inc. where I stayed until 2001, as a Technical Writer and trainer. When I left SGI, I became a contractor.

As a freelance writer, I've also worked with:

Portland Tribune Newspaper,
Driving Sports Magazine,
SubieSport Magazine,
Loud Pedal Magazine,
Victory Lane Magazine,
SportsCar Magazine,

Clackamas Community College,
Global Area Network, Ltd.
Benchmade Knives,
Etec Systems, Inc.,
Interactive Northwest, Inc.
Caldera
Serveron Corporation
Kentrox
Veris Industries

and a few other short-term or part-time gigs.
