In addition to working for a living, I run the Lazy Z Farm. This is, believe it or not, a working farm of 4.96 acres. We raise a household supply of apples, pears, plums, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and the usual assortment of garden vegetables. I also cut and split all our firewood myself, from our 2 acres of forest.
In the main, we raise sheep, goats, and hogs. Goats are permanent residents, but lambs and pigs come and go according to the season.
I do a little goat dairying and make Chevre. (Goat Cream Cheese) Here's a link to a nifty recipe for Neufchatel Chevre that you can make in your kitchen.
I can and will raise animals for your table according to your specifications. All our animals are raised and prepared humanely and with as little in the way of medication as is consistent with humane and prudent practice. If you are interested in getting away from store-bought meat and into free-range, humanely-raised meat, drop me a line and we'll talk about it.
Typically, you buy an animal (Goat, Lamb, or Pig) from me alive, and I deliver it wherever you want, and you pay to have it done up the way you like. I like to use Mark's Meats in Canby, OR, or Shy Ann Meats in Oregon City to do all the killing and processing. They or I can advise you on the best ways to have your animal cut for your freezer/table.
